Oil and Gas Site Network Design with Navijin

Oil and gas sites, from well pads and pipelines to pumping stations, camps and offices, need networks that cover long distances, survive heat and dust, and support CCTV, voice and data. Navas supplies Navijin industrial networking to energy projects across the GCC and Africa. This reference design shows how a typical remote site with a staff camp can be connected with Navijin.

This is a reference design based on typical energy-site requirements. Hazardous-area (ATEX/IECEx) zones need certified equipment, so Navijin products in this design are for safe areas, control rooms, camps and perimeters. Always confirm with the site's HSE and engineering specification.

Typical Site Challenges

  • Long distances between gate, control room, workshops and camp
  • High temperatures, dust and limited power in field cabinets
  • Perimeter security over large fenced areas
  • Reliable voice and Wi-Fi for staff living in remote camps

Design Highlights

  • Fibre ring with ERPS: if one link is cut, traffic re-routes automatically.
  • VLAN separation keeps OT/SCADA traffic, CCTV, voice and camp internet apart.
  • 48V DIN-rail power sized with 20 to 30% headroom for PTZ heaters and IR at night.
  • DDM on SFPs lets engineers monitor optical power and spot fibre problems early.
  • Wireless bridges avoid expensive trenching to remote guard posts.

Benefits for Energy Operators and EPC Contractors

  • One brand for the whole site: switching, optics, power, CCTV, Wi-Fi and voice
  • Lower capex than premium industrial brands for safe-area equipment
  • Dubai stock with export to Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iraq, Kuwait, Qatar and Africa
  • Pre-sales design support for BOQs and tenders
