Hospital and Clinic Network Design with Navijin

Hospitals and clinics depend on the network every minute: patient records, medical devices, nurse stations, phones, security cameras and guest Wi-Fi. Navas supplies Navijin network, Wi-Fi, CCTV and voice solutions to healthcare projects. This reference design shows how a typical clinic or small hospital (about 60 beds) can be built on Navijin.

This is a reference design based on typical healthcare requirements. Medical device integration and local healthcare regulations must always be confirmed with the facility's IT and biomedical teams.

What Healthcare Networks Need

  • High availability: redundant uplinks and ring protection so a single failure does not stop clinical systems
  • Segmentation: clinical systems, medical devices, staff, guests and CCTV on separate VLANs
  • Roaming Wi-Fi for nurses using tablets, carts and handsets while they move between wards
  • Clear voice for nurse stations, pharmacy, reception and emergency
  • CCTV for entrances, pharmacy, corridors and car parks, with good retention

Security and Compliance Good Practice

  • Use 802.1X on staff Wi-Fi and switch ports so only authorised devices join clinical VLANs
  • Keep medical devices on their own VLAN, with ACLs that allow only required traffic
  • Place CCTV and NVR on a dedicated VLAN, with restricted viewing rights
  • Use TLS/SRTP encrypted SIP on phones where supported
  • Document the network and keep firmware up to date. Navas can support this under an IT AMC.

Benefits for Healthcare Providers

  • Reliable clinical connectivity with ring redundancy and segmented VLANs
  • Lower total cost than premium enterprise brands, with no licence fees
  • One supplier for switching, Wi-Fi, CCTV and voice
  • Local stock and support from Navas in Dubai
